Bald eagles, loons, white pelicans, owls and great blue herons are just some of the birds you may see. Bring your camera! For those who love to trek through the remote backcountry, this is the ideal setting for an exhilarating hiking trip. The lakes, rivers and forests in Ontario provide a beautiful scenic back drop in addition to offering recreational opportunities such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. There are many Provincial Parks that are famous for their beauty including Quetico Provincial Park near Atikokan, Woodland Caribou Provincial Park west of Red Lake and Wabakimi Wilderness Park north of Thunder Bay. For those looking for the most remote areas, a trip up the Highway 599 Wilderness Corridor ending in Pickle Lake will bring you to the doorstep of true outdoor adventures.
