Canoe Trips in Woodland Caribou ParkThe Sunset Country Travel Region covers an area greater than 60,000 square miles in Northwest Ontario, Canada. In this vast region there are almost 100,000 lakes, rivers and streams that cut into the granite rock and which sparkle like diamonds against a forest green background. The tracts of forest are immense and are populated with all kinds of birds and animals including bear, moose and deer, beaver, otter and timber wolves. Bald eagles, loons, white pelicans, owls and great blue herons are just some of the birds you may see. Bring your camera!

For those who love to trek through the remote backcountry, this is the ideal setting for an exhilarating hiking trip. The lakes, rivers and forests in Ontario provide a beautiful scenic back drop in addition to offering recreational opportunities such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. There are many Provincial Parks that are famous for their beauty including Quetico Provincial Park near Atikokan, Woodland Caribou Provincial Park west of Red Lake and Wabakimi Wilderness Park north of Thunder Bay. For those looking for the most remote areas, a trip up the Highway 599 Wilderness Corridor ending in Pickle Lake will bring you to the doorstep of true outdoor adventures. From the Town of Pickle Lake you can access some of the most remote parks in Ontario including Polar Bear Provincial Park along the coastline of Hudson Bay.
